What is Counselling & Psychotherapy?
Counselling & Psychotherapy offers you a secure space in which you will be able to confront, change or channel feelings of confusion, grief, rage or depression. You will not be given advice nor told what to do, but I will try and help you find answers within yourself. Counselling & Psychotherapy is not a soft option however, but hard work for all concerned. I will sometimes need to challenge assumptions, as well as offer ‘tough love’ alongside understanding and kindness. I am ethically required not to waste your time or money. Areas of counselling & Psychotherapy in which I specialise:
- Anxiety & Depression
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Abuse: emotional, sexual, physical
- Work related stress
- Experience of loss; bereavement, redundancy
- Sexual difficulties
- Lack of confidence
- Panic attacks
- Phobias
- Communication breakdown
How do you know I am suitably qualified?
I did my original training with Westminster Pastoral Foundation qualifying in 2003 with a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling, subsequently gaining more specialist qualifications in the use of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) which I am able to utilise fully in my psychotherapeutic practice. I am a member of EMDR UK and Ireland. I am a Senior Accredited member of The British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), as well as a registered member of the British Association of Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic Supervision (BAPPS). As a member of BACP I adhere fully to its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I also subscribe to the Westminster Pastoral Foundation’s own Code of Ethics and Practice.
